Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study is to describe the methods to activate the adverse drug reaction (ADR) reports through the Regional Pharmacovigilance Center, Seoul St. Mary¡¯s Hospital.

Methods: The ADR system was established to increase the ADR reports through the Regional Pharmacovigilance Center. The endeavors to enhance the reporting process and research activities were continued. Also, conferences were held frequently. We have been launching on promotion and provided education and counseling of ADR to increase reports from in-hospitals and local healthcare centers.

Results: The number of in-hospital reports was remarkably increased and the local reports were being reported. Various departments started to take part in ADR reports and reporting from the pharmacist and nurses began to increase as well as those from the doctors.

Conclusion: Quantitative growth and qualitative improvement must be balanced to activate spontaneous ADR reports. Increase of in-hospital and local reports are both important for the quantitative growth. To improve the quality of ADR reports, the numbers of reports should be similar regardless of the medical departments, occupations, medications.
